amelia island

Amelia Island FloridaOne of America's few remaining unspoiled island paradises, Amelia Island is the southernmost of the chain of Atlantic coast barrier islands that stretch from North Carolina to Florida.

Amelia Island has a distinctly Southern flavour more like the Carolinas in attitude and climate. Fernandina Beach, its only town, exudes pure charm.  Here you'll count over 450 ornate Victorian structures built before 1927.

Amelia Island offers a wide variety of attractions to its many visitors. Its rich history, 13 miles of uncrowded beaches, lush, natural setting, moss-covered oaks, unparalleled golf, boating, and fishing, stunning sunrises and sunsets, and friendly "locals" make it more than just a place to visit.

Amelia Island FloridaEnjoy everything from surf and sun to exciting family attractions in famous Daytona Beach, one of Florida's most versatile vacation spots.

The excitement begins on the beach, which spans nearly 23 miles from Ormond Beach to Daytona Beach and Ponce Inlet. If you dream of riding the waves, the smooth sand and Atlantic surf combine to make this one of the best surfing spots on the East Coast. Accessing the beach with a car or rented beach buggy is a fun and distinctly Daytona Beach experience with 16 miles available for driving with pedestrian only zones located at various intervals. For some, "picking up the pace" may mean an exhilarating day of shopping in the historic downtown or new oceanfront shopping and dining district, venturing out to sophisticated night spots or playing a round of golf.

If you're seeking a back-to-nature experience, stop by one of the local parks or nature preserves. The area's waterways entice many to enjoy a leisurely boat cruise along the Halifax River. The Atlantic Ocean and the Halifax River also provide anglers a variety of fishing opportunities year-round, from the estuaries and the surf to deep-sea charters. Daytona Beach also boasts a variety of historical attractions and fine museums.

Whether you prefer soaking in some rays on the gorgeous white-sand beaches, high-speed laps around the Speedway or exploring the area's colourful history and culture, Daytona Beach offers an incredible variety of vacation options.

ST. AUGUSTINE

St. Augustine FloridaEscape to the past in St. Augustine, the USA's oldest continuously occupied European city.  St. Augustine's historical sense can be experienced through the narrow cobblestone streets, and restored coquina and stone buildings. Picturesque streets with stone buildings from the 1700 and 1800s are accented with moss draped oak trees. The St. Augustine area is renowned for its rich history.

Castillo de San Marcos still stands as a monument to Spain's determination to control this area, overlooking Matanzas Bay. The fort successfully withstood every enemy attack.  Visitors can see colourful re-enactments of Colonial days complete with authentically costumed actors.

St. Augustine FloridaSt. Augustine FloridaOther preserved structures include the oldest wooden schoolhouse and the oldest house. The schoolhouse is the oldest surviving wood building in St. Augustine. Both buildings are nearly 300 years old. Other points of interest include the Lightner Museum, a Spanish style complex built in the late 1800s by industrialist-millionaire Henry Flagler, and the Spanish Quarter Village, a restored 1740s Spanish colonial village.

St. Augustine also has miles of beautiful white sand beaches, several areas permit vehicular traffic, and Golfers won't want to miss the new World Golf Village with its World Golf Hall of Fame.
